Hi There All
Im afraid i am a bit of a newbie to the whole restoration of classic bikes. For my 1st attempt i have acquired a Cotton Scrambler. However i have zero information about it and looking for some help.
I ideally want to get it registered so its potentially road legal. I can only find 1 number on the engine so far and have no idea where the frame number would be?. I don't know its age but it does have a minarelli engine from research i thinks its a Cotton Cavalier trials with Minarelli 175cc as very similar to the one for sale on the for sale page (lyon france one). if some body could point me in the right direction to get it dated, locate numbers and the process to registering a v5 etc that would be much appreciated. sorry if this has been covered in another thread (if you can point me to the thread that would be great)
Thanks
Ja

The Cotton Owner’s and Enthusiasts Club May be able to help. The frame number is the main criteria and should be stamped on or near to the headstock. As somebody recently said the number was stamped using a toffee hammer. Ie it is probably there but not easy to find or read. The engine number will help as would any supporting paperwork. Stay in touch and Good Luck Paul

ok step 1 completed. I now have both engine and frame numbers -
As far as I’m aware i need to fill in a V55/5. I have some decent images of the bike and numbers including close up and rubbings of the frame and engine number. However I’m unsure on many of the fields within the V55? to fill in.
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks all
