My name's Rick Howell and I have the ex-Keith Johnston/Bob Smith 500 Cotton Triumph which I'm using on MCC and other Long Distance Trials; hopefully I can continue to be as successful as those guys have been with the red flyer. First outing on the Easter 2019 Land's End trial was a revelation only marginally spoilt by a marshal's decision and the tale may well grace Cotton Pickins' pages in the future. Long Distance it certainly was, ending up being some 500 miles over 28 hours or so, which speaks volumes for the Cotton bicycle, the Triumph engine, and the care and attention lavished by the previous owners. Hi Rick. That looks to be a beautifull bike and from what you say it's well sorted, I'm sure you will have loads of fun and plenty of good rides/results with it. Cheers buddy Frosty

A great achievement on a great machine, I look forward to hearing more about the story.

Hi Rick
I've got a spare Cobra frame and a line on a 650 unit motor
I think that the 650 is nearly 2 inches longer than the 500.
Is your 500 a snug fit in the frame or is there a little wriggle room?
Cheers
Juggs

Hi Juggs
it's tight at the back but as the siamese exhaust fits inside the frame the front of the motor is well back from the frame with quite large plates. If you kept to separate exhausts it might work - but if the 650 motor is also taller (and I suspect that it will be) then you'll need to look at whether that would be a limiting factor.
If you send me your email i'll get some pics for you.
