I am trying to identify the right carb for my 1938 model 9 350 JAP high cam engine Currently has a horizontal bodied Amal from a 500 Enfield sloper which is definitely wrong Any info is most welcome
According to my Haycrafy book a 276 pre mono is about right ?

A 276 Pre mono sounds correct. My 1932 350 JAP has a Bowden, Cotton were one of the few makers that fitted a Bowden as standard. Bowden was normally a racing upgrade. I have been fiddling with a horizontal bodied Amal but need to adjust the inlet manifold. The thread on the inlet manifold is 26tpi cycle thread LEFT HAND, mine is 1" diameter. Let me know if I can help.

Thanks cottonjo - I have got my hands on a restored 276 now - have given up with my horizontal 140/6 amal as it looks like it should be a 276 pre concentric in the JAP manual drawing
