Hi,
Looking for some help and advice, I am a club member, this is my latest project, a Cotton 63 trials special.
lm looking to have the inside of the tank rust removed and coated. The outside needs a proper repaint, ideally this would be done at the same time, could you recommend a firm who do this work.
I also need the cap re-chroming, again is there a reliable firm you can recommend?
Cheers
Paul

Hi, I have used Tapox/Fertan from Villiers Services at Merryhill. I have done 2 Cotton tanks and very pleased with the results. 100% ethanol proof. It is a faff to do and you do have to follow the instructions carefully. Best to use a length of chain when rattling the rust remover around. If you use nuts and bolts or stones as others suggest, you can put slight dents on the inside of the tank, and you have to make sure you remove them all. Fred Clutterbuck, also a long term member spends much of his time painting Cotton tanks to a high standard, he lives near Dursley in Gloucestershire. Not sure who is best for rechroming. Good luck Paul

Hi Riley, Fred’s number is 01453 542748. He doesn’t have an email account. Given that lining the tank is messy, it is bet to do that first. I do have enough Tappox to do a tank. It is in 2 thoroughly clean jars, just mix thoroughly together and slosh around the prepared tank. Yours if you want it. I do have all the instructions. Can’t post it, I live in Berkeley in the south of Gloucestershire. Regards Paul
