Hello all, I have recently bought a pre war Cotton a 1933 25J,having blasted the frame I’ve looked for a frame number but can’t find anything,if anyone could tell me whereabouts it would be located I can concentrate in that area.I did find some numbers stamped on both front engine plates which is 5J/37/1 it’s a bit faded but I think this is what’s there,if anyone has a clue what they might mean. There are various small parts missing but the main thing missing is the Burman gearbox if anyone might have one, I have the 4 stud hole mounting block between the engine plates, thanks for any help David Roper

Hi David, The frame number on your Cotton should be found on one of the 2 lower thin section frame members, on the right hand side between the gearbox and the rear wheel spindle. Burman gearboxes for these models are very rare. I have many spare components for a Type R Burman with 2 studs, as I have a 1932 350cc. There is a trader on e-bay from Norwich who may be able to help. "Grandfathers spares"? Good luck and keep us informed/ask again if we can help. Paul S
