Hello and thanks for letting me join. I have recently come across the remains of a Cotton Sturdy truck and I’d like to find out more about it. It’s unusual nowadays to find a vehicle which is barely mentioned on the web.
What engine would it have had originally? What gearbox? How old would it be? How many were made? How many survive?
This one has been extensively modified with a Petter diesel engine and a winch and was used in a factory for years.

This sales brochure may be of interest to you. I have a picture of the Sturdy that is in the folk museum but I have reached the max file size with these 2 pics. Will try and post elsewhere on this thread. We have a COEC member in Cheltenham who is very knowledgeable about the Sturdy and has one of his own. If you want to give me your phone number I can ask him if he is happy to talk. He is not online. In return we would would like to hear how you are getting on, perhaps some pics and a report for our quarterly "Cotton Pickins" magazine. We were hoping to have the museum Sturdy running this year at the annual rally held at the Folk Museum in Gloucester. Maybe next year on Saturday 7th August. You may wish to join us.

Many thanks for the info and photos. I haven’t acquired it at this stage and I’m not sure if I will be able to. The present owner is currently trying to get it started as it hasn’t run for years. I’ll post a photo if I can access one and I’ll let you know what happens to it.
